About

I have more than 15 years experience providing professional and effective high quality therapy. I hold a BSc (Hons) Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) recognised Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision. I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). The BACP is on the Accredited Voluntary Register which has been set set up by the Department of Health to recognise and ensure high standards are maintained.
I work with adults, including couples and with children and young people, including those who have complex backgrounds. I am dedicated to helping you understand and overcome challenges through exploring you and your life experiences with the goal of achieving a sense of wellbeing and control over your life.
My special interest is working with the effects of Little-t Trauma. These might be described as the events which exceed our capacity to cope, ie neglect, bullying, abuse of all kinds, divorce, job loss or abrupt changes in our environment.
I also have 30 years experience in the corporate business sector coaching and managing teams and have a real understanding of the associated stresses and strains which can thrive in that environment.
Research proves that the relationship you build with your therapist is the most important factor in the success of your therapy. My understanding of the therapeutic process and theories, my skills and knowledge about relationship dynamics and my ability to tune into your experience to build a therapeutic relationship which is genuine, empathic and supportive, all help to bring you a personalised therapy experience.

Why Therapy?
Lasting change IS possible and I really am passionate about supporting you to improve your own life experience and bring about lasting, positive change. To achieve this, I work in a way that draws on various therapeutic models based around relationship, our unconscious thoughts and feelings, how we have developed our beliefs and rules and patterns which have directed us so far. I combine this with building a relationship with you where you feel able to talk through the issues affecting you and make sense of how they are contributing to what you're feeling here and now.
In addition to the traditional talking therapies, there is the opportunity for you to work creatively with a variety of mindfulness, body awareness, play, art, role-play, imagery and symbols where you choose to do that.
In addition to traditional therapy, I also offer Single Session Therapy whereby we focus on supporting you with a particular question or problem you might have. The aim here is to come away at the end of that session with something valuable you can take forward.
Where children and young people are involved, I believe in the importance of working collaboratively with those who surround the child and believe this approach is important in providing the right conditions for change.
